A Student’s Guide to the LCMS Library

Hours: 7:30 to 3:00 unless posted differently.

Checkouts: Two Fiction plus one Nonfiction (Biography or Dewey Decimal numbers)

2 week checkout period (Teacher Reserves are 4 days)

Late return fines are 10 cents per school day; 25 cents for Teacher Reserves.

ID card speeds up checkouts and improves accuracy; please bring it with you.

Books may be RENEWED unless there’s a HOLD on them.

Computers: Available when not in use by a class.

Sign-up at the Circulation desk.

Use for school-related work; observe all rules.

Printing is 10 cents per page for black and white and 25 cents for color copies.

The Home page has useful sources for many projects.

Database passwords are available at the Circulation Desk.

Manners: Best smile, quiet voices, backpacks in lockers, no food, gum, drinks,

electronics.

Passes: Reading classes visit every two weeks; courtesy reminders come before.

In class? Show your teacher’s pass and sign in.

Lunch pass? Sign up BEFORE school and stamp your wrist; check in.

Holds: Your book is out? Ask how you can place a HOLD request.

Copies: The student copier is supported by your 10 cent per page fee.

Black and white. Please observe posted copyright laws.

Student Store: At the front desk. Just ask for help. Pencil machine is self-serve.

Lost books: Report them quickly!

Lexile: Get your score from your reading teacher to do a Lexile search.
